Tahtalı and Adrasan: The Coast from a Different Perspective
Two flying areas, two kinds of wide-open space. A tandem flight can become a special holiday experience when the landscape, expectations and conditions on the day come together.
The moment before take-off
The wing is still lying on the ground. Then the fabric takes shape, the lines tighten and your gaze lifts away from the slope. A tandem flight begins with preparation and a take-off directed by the pilot. It is not a jump from an aeroplane. That very difference changes how you imagine the experience: you glide into the landscape with an experienced pilot.
Tahtalı: from the high mountains towards the sea
Escape Adventures offers tandem flights from Tahtalı, which rises to 2,365 metres. The high mountain’s proximity to the coast shapes the appeal: forest, rock and sea can all share the same field of view. In the usual visit itinerary, the summit is reached by the Olympos cable car; whether its ticket and transfers are included in a flight package must be checked for the specific offer. The launch site is not a freely accessible viewpoint for spontaneous independent flights. Escape describes a separate assessment and approval procedure for pilots flying independently.
Adrasan: the bay at the centre
Tandem flights are also offered in Adrasan. Flynow’s published offer page gives a launch altitude of about 1,000 metres and a flight time of roughly 20 to 25 minutes. These are this provider’s figures, not a promise for every flight and every launch site. The landscape centres on the bay and its wooded slopes. If you would like to continue the day by the sea afterwards, the day unfolds differently here from a visit to a high mountain summit. Choose the flying area and the day’s programme together, rather than simply comparing which altitude is higher.
How to make a considered choice
Tahtalı may appeal to visitors seeking the striking transition between mountain and coast. Adrasan lends itself to the idea of a day at the bay. This is our editorial guidance, not an assessment of flight comfort or safety. Altitude alone tells you little about either. What matters is the conditions at the actual launch site, the pilot’s judgement and your personal circumstances. Flight duration, landing place and procedure can vary. Promising a particular photographic angle or several minutes hovering over one precise part of a bay would therefore be irresponsible.
Clarify beforehand, enjoy more comfortably afterwards
Before booking, ask about the full package: transfers, the ascent, the flight, insurance coverage, photos or video, and the policy for weather cancellations. Age, weight, mobility and health limitations should be discussed directly with the provider. Securely fitting shoes and clothing suited to the launch altitude are sensible; loose belongings must be secured. The pilot provides the specific briefing. Cancelling a take-off can be the right decision. Where possible, plan an alternative date and avoid letting a flight appointment put you under pressure for your onward departure.
From the old coastal landscape to today’s experience
The flights open up a landscape that earlier travellers experienced from the water or along overland routes. This is the connection with the region’s history. A stretch of coast you passed by bus the day before suddenly makes sense as part of a wider terrain. This comparison is also rewarding for companions who prefer not to fly and spend their day at the summit or by the bay.
Plan with Erendiz
Our bus guide shows connections along the coast. The final journeys to the meeting point and launch site, as well as the return journey, need to be arranged separately. For Adrasan in particular, an agreed transfer is often the more convenient option. Talk to our team: we help find a suitable offer and bring the flight, activities for companions and travel arrangements together as a tailor-made outing. The final decision to allow the flight always rests with the responsible provider on the day.
Companions may also find our report on the Tahtalı cable car useful: the mountain can be experienced just as well without a flight.
