Göynük Canyon: A Day Between Rock Faces and Turquoise-Green Water
An excursion from Kemer into the green hinterland: Göynük Canyon combines scenery, activity and adventure. Those who plan their visit well will discover far more here than just relief from hot holiday days.

At first glance, it is the colour of the water. Between pale rocks and dense greenery, a pool shines in a shade somewhere between turquoise and emerald. Above it, wooded slopes rise up, while rugged mountains stand out against the sky in the distance. Our images from Göynük Canyon show a landscape where you are happy to pause for a moment longer.
For many, a beach day is part of Kemer. A day in the canyon changes the perspective on the same region: the view turns to trees, streams and rock faces. Some visitors come to walk and look around. Others want to enter the water with equipment or glide through the air on a zipline. Both have their place here – provided you choose the right programme in advance.
From the holiday resort to the green valley
Göynük Canyon lies in the hinterland of Göynük, a town in the Kemer district. The district administration describes this excursion destination, with its trees, waterfalls and natural pools, as being around four kilometres from the town. The journey therefore leads from the coastal region into a distinctly different landscape. Göynük Canyon at the Kemer District Administration
Our photo series comes from Florian's “Göynük Canyon” album from August 2021. It shows the path, green stretches of water and small discoveries along the way. Archive images like these convey the character of a place. They are not a current record of its paths, facilities or available activities.
It is worth allowing time to look around during your visit. The reflection of a rock face in the water, shadows on a path or an unusual wooden sculpture need not be merely a backdrop for the next photo. It is often the small details that turn an excursion destination into a memory.
One canyon, different ways to experience it
A walk in the accessible park area is different from a tour through the water-bearing canyon. When choosing, it should therefore be clear which experience is intended. The operator offers several separate activities, including a canyon safari or body rafting, a boat tour and a zipline. Check admission, activity and transfer details for each specific offer. Operator activities
Walking and experiencing the landscape: If you mainly want to see the surroundings, focus on the open paths and viewpoints. An access ticket does not automatically mean that every additional activity is included. Have the permitted areas explained to you.
Exploring in the water: The canyon safari focuses on making your way through the water. The operator requires its prescribed equipment, including a helmet, life jacket and non-slip canyoning shoes. The specific programme, briefing and your personal requirements are all relevant for participation. Canyon safari: procedure and conditions of participation
Viewing from a boat: A boat tour opens up the waterscape in a different way. Before booking, clarify whether it suits your group, what equipment is used and which sections are covered. The name alone does not indicate whether it is suitable for every age group or level of mobility. Operator boat tour
Changing perspective: The zipline is a separate adventure activity. It can be planned as a standalone focus or as part of an offered combination. Participation limits and the exact scope should be clarified in advance. Zipline offer
A good excursion does not have to be a full adventure programme. One deliberately chosen experience and enough time for the return journey can make the day more enjoyable than trying to fit in as many stops as possible.
Why the canyon is especially appealing in summer
The AA report on Son Dakika dated 17 August 2026, which you may already have read, describes the canyon as an excursion destination for people wishing to escape the heat on the coast. It reports cooler water and various activities in the valley. This is an observation from that summer, not a weather or temperature guarantee for a later visit. Even at a water-rich excursion destination, warm paths are part of the planning. Match your journey and activity to the conditions of the day. The same basic idea applies to a day in spring or autumn: it is not the season alone that matters, but whether the desired area is open and the activity is taking place under current conditions. In rain or changeable weather, the operator's current information should be decisive.
Göynük and the Lycian Way
Göynük is also part of the hiking landscape of the Lycian Way. The district administration explicitly mentions this connection. However, this does not mean that a long-distance hiking stage and the tourist water tour are the same route. If you want to hike, choose a specific stage with a start, destination, route and return journey. District administration classification
For a holiday with several days of hiking, you can also use our page on the Lycian Way from Kemer for guidance. The canyon can be included as a separate excursion during such a week. Whether an additional longer hike makes sense depends on the chosen daily programme and your fitness level.
What should be clarified before the excursion
A few specific questions are more helpful than an overstuffed backpack:
- What is included? Have access, the selected activity, equipment, guidance and transfer confirmed individually.
- How do we get there and back? The journey to Göynük is not automatically the journey to the park entrance. The operator describes a further walk after getting off in the town. The starting point and return journey are crucial for the actual connection.
- What suits our group? Discuss the children's ages, swimming experience and special requirements directly with the provider running the activity. General advertising statements do not replace this check.
- What should we wear? The operator recommends sportswear for walking; for water activities, swimwear, a towel and dry clothes for afterwards are sensible. The provider supplies or specifies the required activity equipment.
- What happens to our phone and bag? Special rules apply to bringing items along for activities; the operator mentions storage options. Check in advance whether and where you may take your own photos.
The official pages sometimes list different opening hours and participation information that is not fully consistent everywhere. We therefore refrain from giving a supposedly universally valid time or age approval here. Before your visit, check the current information for the exact activity you have chosen. Prices can also change. A blog post is not a binding price list; when you make an enquiry, you will receive the specifically confirmed scope of services and price separately.
A beautiful place needs considerate visitors
The visitor rules are clear: stay on approved paths, enter the water only in designated areas, and do not take plants or stones as souvenirs. Throwing stones into the gorge, disturbing animals or writing on rocks is not appropriate for a visit to this landscape. The site's rules also apply to fires, smoking, food brought along and overnight stays. A spontaneous picnic or a night in the park should therefore not simply be planned. Official visitor rules
Those who enjoy photography can focus on the shapes and colours instead of entering cordoned-off areas for a shot. Our archive photographs show how much there is already to discover along a path, by the water and when looking up towards the mountains.
Your canyon day with Erendiz as your base
The Erendiz Garden Hotel can be your accommodation for a holiday combining beach days, hikes and excursions into the hinterland. When enquiring about Göynük Canyon, let us know your preferred day, the number of people and whether you would rather take a walk, experience a water activity or try ziplining.
We will discuss the planning options with you. External admission tickets, activities and transfers are not automatically part of the hotel booking. Providers, availability, scope and price must be confirmed separately; an enquiry is not yet a confirmed booking.
Write to us at info@erendiz.com or discover more day trips from Kemer. You can plan your stay at Erendiz to match.
Perhaps, in the end, this one image will stay with you most of all: green water, pale stone and mountains above the trees. For a good holiday day, the sea does not always have to be the focus.
